Issues, wish list and more.
This year started with many changes in our personal lives in consecuence of this the development of magic fields has been very slow until now
But we don’t leave the development we are still working in the next version (1.4) and actually with this release all the things to we want to fix from the original project will be finish.
For that for the future releases we want to know all the suggestions from you and start to add the more popular requested features in Magic Fields. for that in the wiki of the project was created a page called “wish list” where if you want to see a particular feature in magic fields fell free to add that feature in the wish list and we will start to evaluate which features will be added in the future..
In another hand, this last two months with no much movement in the development we see a lot of comments and possible bugs in the comments of the blog or as a messages in the mailing list.
Well, we think to is a good moment to start to manage the bugs in a better way, if you found a bug and in the mailling list don’t be able to get a answer of your problem or if someone else has the same bug and is something to you can replicate without problems feel free to open a issue here:
http://github.com/hunk/Magic-Fields/issues
Just leave a little description of the bug and leave a little list of the step to you follow to replicate the bug and which operative system are installed in the server where you are using magic Fields and in which browser are you use for see the issue, with this information we can start to fix any bug.
just for finish, this version of Magic Fields come with a bunch of features and optimizations for that the time for test this version will be bigger the next version of magic fields will be launched the 21 of march.

Is there a way to disable all the extra markup that comes with making a get function call? Every time i use the get function, the content is surrounded in a div with a bunch of classes (for example: its also render this code – )

Mmmmm, you has the EIP (Edit In Place) feature Inactive?
The EIP feature wrap the content with a div for give the hability to be edited the information without need to enter to the admin
Check in the preferences of Magic fields if you has inactive this feature.

Or in the frontend you can do it too

Guys, this is a much better plugin than Flutter, well done.
but…
You’ve got a permissions issue with the phpthumbcache folder. It’s leaving locked files on my server that are proving quite stubborn.
A few bugs in your software are acceptable, but leaving locked files on my server isn’t!
Please sort this out immediately.
Thanks in advance.

TWO items for the wishlist please!
1) an option to add panel or group to the main area of the write page (‘normal’) OR on the right, in the sidebar (‘side’) (this is a standard part of creating metaboxes, but an option would be great!
2)combining RELATED TYPE with CHECKBOX LIST. Instead of RELATED TYPE being a dropdown list (where you can only select one related item), can it not be either a multiple select list, or a list of checkboxes (instead of adding checkbox elements manyally)?
I think these 2 features would increase the already-greatness of Magic Fields

Wicky check this script for permissions in phpthumbcache http://gist.github.com/311570.
this happend because phpthumb generate this files and it gives these permissions.

Hi guys,
This plugin is amazing and makes our work a lot easier. We’re seriously considering to make a donation.
1. I think it would be great for Magic Fields to have an option where it can inherit the default WYSIWYG editor. We’re not using the default tinyMCE as it kinda sucks so we had to edit the RCCWP_WritePostPage.php file so it loads the foliopress-wysiwyg editor we’re using instead of tinyMCE
2. it would be great to have a select (or multiple select for that matter, or even list of checkboxes) which allows the user to define the label and attach to the value a custom shortcode. The output for the user should be something like this for NextGEN gallery:
My Gallery 1
Other Gallery
My super gallery
Having this type of functionaly will allow theme designers to have full control over where the shortcoders are run. This way the user of the site has very little power to break something.
3. Another die for feature would be to have the option to add default values to fields. For instance a lot of pages will have an Logo field. I might want to show a sample logo on all pages until the db is actually populated with some content.
Once i think of more stuff i’ll add it here
Kind regards,
Romeo
